Choosing Happiness Today

There are moments when the world feels like more than we can carry.

We see suffering, uncertainty, division, and so many things we wish we could change. We care about what is happening around us, and sometimes that caring can become overwhelming.

I have found myself asking:

What if I choose happiness?

What if I choose today instead of yesterday?

Why not choose happiness today?

Choosing happiness doesn’t mean that I don’t care about the world or the people who are hurting. It doesn’t mean ignoring what is happening or pretending that everything is okay.

For me, it means recognizing that I still have a choice about how I experience this moment.

I can care and still breathe.

I can be aware and still find joy.

I can acknowledge what is difficult without allowing it to consume every beautiful thing that is happening right now.

Yesterday has already happened. Tomorrow hasn’t arrived.

Today is where I am.

Maybe happiness isn’t something we have to wait for.

Maybe sometimes happiness is a choice we make in the middle of everything else.

So today, I’m choosing happiness.

Not because the world is perfect.

Not because I have all the answers.

But because this moment is mine to live.

And perhaps that is part of our journey — learning that we can hold compassion for the world while still allowing ourselves to experience the beauty of being alive.

What if you chose happiness today?

There is no single path to the sacred. Perhaps this is one of the paths — learning to be fully present for the life we are actually living.
